Love 'n' Licks, Bow Wow"
The Official Sardine Machine site (1999 tour)
This is where we show you what went on during a three week tour of southern Africa in 1999. A group of 23 people, 6 Americans, 4 Dutchies, 2 Belgians, 4 Norwegians, 2 Canadians, 2 Germans, 1 Polish dude and 2 South Africans tourguides hop on a truck in Cape Town and drive all the way to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
African Safari!
Once upon a time, Mary, faced with a bleak and weary summer of studying for the Massachusetts bar exam, thought that the perfect way to celebrate the end of the test would be to spend a month overlanding through southern Africa...
Bangkok Randy's Travel blog
I chose the company Nomad Tours because, from what I could determine, it is a reliable, trustworthy company with tours that are going where I wanted to go. And perhaps most importantly, they were the only ones I could find that had reasonably-priced tours with sleeping in "accommodations" (i.e. guesthouses, hotels and such) as opposed to tents.
The Big Trip
I, who haven’t been camping since my 20’s and whose last two visits to the African bush were in luxury tents with glamorous bathrooms, am thinking about becoming a backpacker.
The Overland Tour begins!
Sunday morning 12 of February I caught a taxi down to the Nomad tours office where I would be meeting my group and guides. Little by little the people came trickling in...
Our trip to Kande Beach, Malawi
...that got me to thinking about overland treks which I had heard about and we just saw about six such trucks at Kande Beach. Essentially these overland trek trucks are as big as a semi and carry people (bus-style seating) and all their gear plus tents and food/cooking supplies.

Wildlife Direct Blogs
An unbelievable collection of bloggers working on the front lines of conservation. You can read about Maasai warriors working together with their communities to try and protect lions. Find out what their daily struggles are and how they cope. If you feel inspired, the site allows you to make a direct donation through paypal. This should be the template of all conservation efforts in Africa.
The Getaway travel blog
Getaway's bloggers are a motley crew. We've collected a rag-tag bunch of travel journalists, foodies, eco-warriors, elephant ambassadors and plain-old crazy adventurers to record their worlds, in their words. From hitchhiking around South Africa during the World Cup to 4x4ing around the edge of the Atlantic recording the impact of rising sea levels to mooching around farmer's markets to gather ingredients for lunch, our bloggers could all come from different planets. But there are two things Getaway bloggers all have in common: itchy feet and the knowledge that exploring is always more fun when you can share your experiences. We hope you enjoy the journey with us!
