South Luangwa National Park

South Luangwa National Park situated in the Luangwa river valley in Zambia, it is the south most national park in the region and the most popular destination for visitors to the region. South Luangwa National Park travel provides unparalleled game viewing as it is a wildlife haven, supporting herds of buffalo and giraffe. The river that gives the valley its’ name and which runs through the park is a habitat for both hippopotamuses and crocodiles.
South Luangwa national park tours are well known for the fact that they can be taken on foot, walking tours are a fantastic way to see experience the wildlife and the natural habitat that they live in. Our South Luangwa National Park adventures include a game drive, which we highly recommend. The game reserve was founded in 1938 and it was declared a National Park in 1972, the total area now covers 9050 square kilometres. Using these decades of experience they run a world class game reserve which endeavours to preserve the natural heritage of the region.
The reserve is home to the elusive leopard which is a must see on any African safari trip, guarantees can obviously not be made regarding animals which may or may not be seen however we try to include enough time on our South Luangwa National Park tours to increase your chances of seeing the game that you want to. The campsite in the park is on the banks of the Luangwa River and the wildlife that rely on the river can be seen from the campsite’s bar. There can be few better way to experience Africa than by sitting on the banks of a river at sunset with good company while nature plays out around you.
